Where is PEACE?

“You find peace where you make it. Scenery won’t change it.” ~ Ben Rector

If you were to close your eyes and think of a peaceful moment, what does that look like for you?

I asked this question in a workshop I was leading and as the women shared their peaceful moments, it was obvious that peace is experienced differently for each of us.

For some it was being alone in nature.

For others it was being surrounded by their loved ones.

Some needed silence.

Others needed sounds.

The follow up question to this peaceful moment is – does the peacefulness go away once the moment has passed?

Scripture tells us that Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6) and that God is not a God of disorder but of peace (1 Cor 14:33).

The peace of God isn’t dependent on our surroundings, circumstances or belongings.

The peace of God is found in our vulnerable trust in His love and provision for us.

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:7

When you are stressed out and someone is trying to tell you it’s all going to be ok, have you ever though or said –”Whatever, easy for you to say, you have no idea what I am going through.”

We put ourselves in a pit that we think no one else has been in or can get into.

Don’t underestimate God!!

“He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” Psalm 40:2

I often refer to Jesus as my Wounded Healer because He has felt what I am feeling.

He lived among chaos, hatred, jealousy, death, abandonment, criticism.

He felt the pain of betrayal.

He looked out at the world in front of Him, knowing it was way bigger than we could handle.

He didn’t freak out, instead – “When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matt 9:36-38

My prayer for you today is that you allow God to be your peaceful moment.

That you allow His loving and protective arms to wrap around you.

That you are able to find peace in the moment you are in now.

And that you know without a shadow of a doubt that there is ALWAYS hope in God’s peace.
