Creativity

Creativity is just another term for God showing up.

Interesting…

I have a love hate relationship with creativity. I am amazed at how creative people are and yet my lack of creativity is one of my limiting beliefs.

One of my go to statements is that I am a copier not a creator. I have been told that it’s ok to be a copy-cat as long as I am copying the right cats!

So when I heard that creativity is just another term for God showing up, it stopped me in my little heart tracks.

I have written a devotion on how God is the Creator – the one who can form something beautiful from nothing at all. But it never dawned on me to connect the dots (which is sad because that’s the best kind of drawing I have going for me!) between God and our creativity.

The reason we are captivated by the works of others is the uniqueness it brings to our routine world.

A splash of color to a drab wall.

An arrangement of notes that instantly brings a rhythm to your feet.

A mesmerizing sculpture that was assembled from a pile of scraps.

Creativity is characterized by the ability to perceive the world in new ways, to find hidden patterns.

Who better to know the hidden patterns than the One who hid them?!

The phenomenon I am beginning to realize is that there is no perfection to our creations – there is only uniqueness.

I really don’t think I have ever asked God to be creative through me. I have begged Him to make me creative, but that is a prayer coming from a closed mind and desperation.

Ok wait…MIND BLOWN MOMENT!!!

This Is The Day is God’s creation that He has placed in my hands. It is a unique ministry that was formed through my collaboration with the Master of Creativity – OOOOMMMMGGGG!

(I feel like God just looked at everyone in Heaven and said, “Wait for it…Wait for it…BOOM – she got it!”)

The daily posts, this BLOG, the poems I write – these are all creative!!

Ya’ll, I am screaming inside right now!!!

But here’s the thing, these things don’t feel creative to me because they flow naturally. When I think of being creative, I think of struggle.

This Is The Day isn’t a struggle for me.

God shows up with me here on paper with my thoughts and creates beauty.

Well, thank you for showing up for my lesson to myself today!

I hope you allow yourself some space today for God to show up for you.
