Kettlebell Moments

Ever have one of those “kettlebell moments”?

The kettlebell swing is one of the few movements where the path of the weight moves away from your body. This requires you to have a strong foundation and creates tension in your core. Without a set stance and an engaged core, the weight of the kettlebell will swing you all over the place.

So what’s a kettlebell moment?

The other morning I was supposed to get up when Phil’s alarm went off at 5:15am because I had one of those days where there wasn’t much wiggle room to get it all done.

I didn’t hear his alarm but it was still dark out when I opened my eyes, so I thought I was fine.

Nope…it was 6:35am!!!!!!

That threw me into a panic mode and as I scurried out to the living room, I noticed the coffee maker was just now brewing…it’s set to turn on at 4:50am so it should be hot and waiting for me.

Phil said that it had gone off but it was full of grinds. That’s two days in a row that I had somehow screwed that up.

As I was rushing to get outside for my walk through our garden with Jesus (that’s what I picture when I have my quiet time outside in the early mornings), I about lost it all when my foot slips on the moss covered path.

Throughout this whole time, I kept repeating the words “rain came wind blew”. I could hear it in my head but I couldn’t figure out what it was from.

Finally, I got to my sitting spot and I heard those words again – rain came wind blew.

I typed it into Spotify and lo and behold, the song Firm Foundation comes up.

Y’all….the realness of God in that moment was overwhelming. He simply reminded me that I was just having a kettlebell moment.

My foundation is set on Jesus so my day doesn’t have to be ruined just because things feel like the are swinging away from me. I can have peace in chaos.

Rain came wind blew but my house was built on You.

He is my Firm Foundation – it’s up to me to set my core.

And that, my friends, is a kettlebell moment!
